Zahidi dates are a rare and unique variety, known for their small size, firm texture, and distinct golden hue. These dates are meaty and offer a wonderfully nutty flavor that is often compared to peanut butter, with occasional hints of tanginess reminiscent of dried apricots. Zahidi dates are less sweet than most other date varieties, making them a favorite for those seeking a more balanced, mildly sweet fruit. They are rich in essential minerals like potassium, magnesium, and protein, as well as vitamins such as vitamin A, the B complex vitamins, and vitamin C, providing a wholesome and nutritious snack. Grown in several tropical regions of Iran, including Khuzestan, Fars, Bushehr, and Kerman, Zahidi dates are typically harvested around mid-September, with market availability from October to March. Their moisture content is notably lower than that of many other dates, often under 14%, which contributes to their firmer texture. Zahidi dates are undeniably flavorful, offering a unique and savory alternative to sweeter date varieties.
